Stepping off at 1:30 p.m., the parade will begin in the Pfizer parking lot, turn east onto E. Crooked Hill Road, turn south on to N. Middletown Road, turn west onto E. Central Avenue and turn south onto S. Main Street before concluding near the Pearl River Post Office, according to Orangetown police.
The event will require police to close several roads along the route – some as early as noon on the day of the event and others no later than 12:30 p.m., authorities said.
While street parking is permitted during the parade, drivers are urged to check for any parking restrictions before leaving their cars, police said.
The parade is typically quite popular, so police will be enforcing parking laws – particularly on those vehicles that may impede traffic on local roads, police said.
Handicapped parking will be available in the parking lot of the Key Bank, 93 N. Middletown Road, and the municipal parking lot at the corner of N. William Street and E. Washington Avenue, according to authorities.
Local busses that typically pass through Pearl River will be diverted around the downtown area beginning at noon with regular service resuming at 6 p.m., according to police.
Those wishing to catch a Rockland Coach bus during the parade will have to travel to Route 304, where stops will be made N. Middletown Road and W. Washington Avenue, police said. Those wishing to catch a Brega TOR bus during the event should also go to Route 304, where stops will be made at W. Washington Avenue and Veterans Memorial Drive.
Anyone with any questions about the parade closures should call Orangetown police at 845-359-3700.
